How Spanimal can help…

Spanimal.org is an online animal adoption network created to assist animal welfare organisations and individuals in finding homes for Spain’s unwanted dogs and cats.

Wanting to adopt?

Our search function enables potential adopters to quickly and easily locate a suitable dog or cat within their locality. We include images of all the animals as well as many videos and each animal has its own unique enquiry form to enable you to get additional details quickly.

Wanting to find homes for animals in your care?
Any Spain-based animal welfare group or individual seeking to find homes for animals in their care can use our service free of charge. Over the past 7 years we’ve helped home hundreds of dogs and cats not only in Spain, but throughout Europe.  You can quickly upload each animal’s details, photo and video. We even provide a direct link to your website! All our services are completely free of charge. Register now!

May 2012: Please note that as our blog is now included within the new Spanimal.org site, these pages will no longer be updated. They will however continue to be available at blog.spanimal.org.

A new roof for Moca

Moca with her new home.

Last year Spanimal donated food and a brand new kennel to the SOS Serbia animal refuge in Nis, Serbia. We’ve just received photographs of Moca the new kennel resident who was saved from the local dog pound some 3 years ago. As homes are very difficult to find in Serbia, many of the dogs will spend their entire lives being cared for at the refuge.  Conditions are far from ideal especially during the winter when temperatures plummet. The dogs have little protection other than their kennels, therefore  these new custom-built colourful homes are very welcome.

For just £80 you can give a Serbian dog a little comfort during the long winter nights by donating a kennel. Please contact Linda for more information.

Your £80 donation also includes a plaque with your choice of message.

Other ways you can help:

Donations:
Given the difficulty in transporting supplies to Serbia, cash donations are usually the best way of making a difference. Cheques can be sent to: Jean Bird, Harborough Animal Concern, 7 Cedar Close, Kibworth, Leicestershire LE8 OHY, England. All donations will of course be acknowledged.

Jean also runs the Tail Wags Shop on eBay, a wonderful emporium of beautiful handmade jewellery, cards and stationery. All proceeds from her shop go to SOS Serbia. Get over to http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Tail-Wags-Shop and help Serbia’s dogs and cats!

For all enquiries regarding donations of food/wormers etc, please email Linda or ring her on 07803 198634.

RSDR Bulgaria: 2011 Looking Back

Koolie had been living in the forest next to the landfill site for at least four months. Over the past week, hunters had shot all of the dogs near the landfill, killing all of her friends. This lovely girl would no doubt have also been shot if RSDR hadn’t brought her back to the shelter.

Whilst times may be tough in Spain for its dogs and cats, spare a thought for the excellent work being done by a small group of volunteers in Bulgaria. This is their look back at 2011 (PDF).

Will it be a lucky New Year for Lucky?

Lucky was found chained to the door of a house that was due to be demolished. No one saw her when she was cold or when she was thirsty, nor heard her when she was barking due to hunger and loneliness. She grew up all alone, was invisible to everyone. The poor dog was just a bag of bones, covered in fleas and ticks. Now fully recovered, she is an independent dog and does not seek cuddles. Little by little she has gained confidence in people, likes walks and interacts well with other dogs.

The aftermath of abandonment is a limp in one leg, hopefully this will not be an impediment to finding a special family who wants to save her.

All our dogs are delivered vaccinated, wormed, neutered, chipped and with adoption contract.

Enquire about Lucky.

Visit Lucky online at PROA Madrid.

A home for Cesur in the UK?

Cesur

The Turkish Animal Rescue Organisation (TARO) contacted Spanimal recently regarding the rehoming of Cesur. Earlier this year he was involved in an accident which resulted in the loss of one of his back legs, since his operation he has been under the care of TARO. A kind benefactor has now offered to pay for all the necessary tests, vaccines, paperwork and transport to bring Cesur to the UK.

Cesur loves to run and play, and most of all he loves to receive lots of cuddles, he is a very friendly boy who gets on well both with people and other dogs. He is neutered and up-to-date with all vaccinations.

If you would like to be considered for adopting Cesur, please contact us here. You can also see Cesur in action here.
